如何鉴定美国大学的真伪

一.引言

美国是世界上拥有大学最多的国家，其中有令人神往的一流大学，也有令人头痛的野鸡大学。每年都有很多中国留学生被美国一些野鸡大学骗取钱财，那么如何来辨别众多的美国大学是不是qualified，是不是有资格授予学位证书的呢？

二.美国教育部的声明

很多美国学校在中国招生宣传时都说自己是美国教育部认证的。事实上，在美国教育部的官方网站上就明确说明了美国教育部没有认证大学的，只是制定一些法律来规定一些认证机构去认证大学的quality。

The U.S. Department of Education does not accredit educational institutions and/or programs. However, the Secretary of Education is required by law to publish a list of nationally recognized accrediting agencies that the Secretary determines to be reliable authorities as to the quality of education or training provided by the institutions of higher education and the higher education programs they accredit. The U.S. Secretary of Education also recognizes State agencies for the approval of public postsecondary vocational education and State agencies for the approval of nurse education.

三.美国大学的鉴定机构

美国的大学认证机构按地域来分有6个区域性的认证机构，这些机构都通过了美国教育部(Department of Education)或高等教育司(the Council for Higher Education; http://www.chea.org)的认可。这六个学位认证机构包括中部，东部，北部，南部，西部，西北部，每一个机构负责对该辖区的正规大专院校进行认证。这些机构通常对整个学校进行认证，一旦一个学校经过这些机构的认证，代表该校的每一个科系都通过认证。

除了地区性的认证机构之外，美国还有有80个专业认证机构，专门负责就其领域内对各校的某一科系认证。在一所经过6个区域性的认证机构认可的大学中，不一定每一个科系都经过80个认证机构的认证。例如加州州立大学洛杉矶分校是经过西部大专院校协会认可的，但是该校的64个学院，科系和专业分支中，只有15个在学校通过认证的基础上又通过了专业认证机构的认证。几个热门专业的认证机构如下：

了解了美国的认证机构之后，当我们看到一所大学的名称时，只要把名称在这2个网址

上输入，就可以看到这所大学是否qualified。例如我们输入Duke，可以得到下面的结果：
