摄影、电视编辑、影视媒体类方向一般都可归类到传媒专业下（除了某些纯摄影的课程），与传媒专业下其它方向相比，国内申请者的基数相对较小，这一点可以通过各大BBS论坛上对此方向关注度不高的现象推理出来。这可能是与这些方向就业比较困难有关。据一位在NEWHOUSE呆了一年的网友说NEWHOUSE的TRF(Television, Radio, and Film)毕业生不是很好找工作。

因此估计，申请这个方向的难度与传媒的其它方向，如PR等相比差低一些。

另外，从申请人背景的角度来看，摄影、电视编辑、影视媒体类要求申请人具备一定的相关的专业背景。如摄影方向，可能会要求申请人提交作品集。这与传媒的其它一些偏理论或管理的方向有较大的不同。

基本上可以分为两类，一是艺术型的摄影课程，二是传媒型的摄影课程。

1. 艺术型的摄影课程

艺术型的摄影课程又可以分为纯粹的摄影课程和与其它视觉艺术混合的课程。
